Dates, calculations and sources

We compare the Saturday before the change with the Sunday on which clocks go back. The bars show a 24-hour local clock; the autumn clock-change day contains 25 elapsed hours. The light line marks your chosen time, and the warm segment shows the daylight remaining after it. Repeated early-morning times can occur twice; both occur before sunrise in these cities, so the daylight totals are the same.

Daylight is the time between sunrise and sunset, calculated for each city center using SunCalc. It does not measure cloud-free sunshine, terrain or the shade of buildings. Twilight is not counted. Minutes are rounded. The day-to-day total changes with the season; changing the clock does not change the Sun’s path. Read the calculation method.
